The trade name of a firm is the official name of that business. Trade name registration is the primary step of procedures to company registration in the UAE. Before proceeding with the formalities required to obtain a business or trade license, all companies are required to reserve their trade name through the trade name registration process.

Choosing a Trading Name

Any trade name selected for the business should comply with all said rules and regulations by law. It has to be included of partners or their preferred name followed by the private shareholding company if a business has got partners and should be identical to the name of the owner and followed by LLC. The trade name should be associated or related to the commercial activity of the proposed firm. Also, the company name and trade name has to be identical in nature. The name of the shareholder in the trade name can include consist of two names at least for instance the first name + the second name or the nickname.

Trade name registration means the registration of the proposed company name with the Economic Department of the United Arab Emirates. While you are placing an application for registering with a trading name for your business, it is not advised that any name will get approved. There are some criteria, that have to get matched when a trade name registration application is placed. An existing trade name will not get issued again. Applying for a duplicate name or very similar names of existing businesses will also get rejected. Trade names have to be unique as well. If a trading name breaches public interest, humiliates or hurt cultural or religious values, social morale, etc., such names will not get registered in DED. The DED may reject applications if the trade name and commercial activities of the business are not associated. Registration of trade names with god’s name, any religious name, ruling authority, etc., will also not get registered with DED.
